Is IndiePit free?

Yes. Anyone can create a profile for free.

How do I sign up?

It’s super easy. Go to the top right corner of IndiePit.com and click “account signup & login.” A window will drop down. Click “Sign up now.” Click either “I’m an artist,” “I’m a fan,” or “I’m a label.” This will take you to the signup page.

What are Indie Features?

Indie Features are our picks and favorites from the IndiePit community. The large one is our Alpha Feature and the two small ones we call Feature Betas.

What are Sound Checks?

Sound Checks are promotional spots that bands can purchase to promote themselves on the IndiePit homepage.

What is The Rising?

The Rising consists of bands that are gaining momentum in the IndiePit community or simply bands that we are digging. Either way, we believe they deserve a little boost.

I forgot my password. How do I get a new one?

Click “account signup & login.” A window will drop down. Click “Forgot password? and enter your e-mail address. You should receive an e-mail momentarily with a new temporary password. Make sure you check your spam box, too.

Is it free to create our band profile?

Yes, it’s free and super easy. But we also offer Pro Accounts for bands and labels to give you greater promotional tools. As of June 12, the first 5oo bands to create profiles get free Pro Accounts.

How do I upload my music?

Can I sell my music?

Yes. You can sell your music and set any price you want for your tracks. You can find step by step instructions for selling your music right here.

Can I sell my merchandise?

Yes.  Now you can sell your merchandise right from your IndiePit profile.  For more info click here.

What are coupons?

Coupons are a promotional tool we offer that allows you to generate unique codes for give-aways and discounts on music and merchandise.  You can find out more about them here.

How much stuff can I upload onto my profile?

As of June 12, the next 500 bands that create profiles receive free Pro Accounts. This allows you to upload unlimited tracks and photos and stream which ever ones you want.

How big can my files be?

We really hate to put limits on what you can do so we allow some pretty big files:

Tracks: 20MB per file
Pictures: 2MB per file
Album art: 2MB per file

I only have one song. Why must I create an album?

IndiePit wants to keep a real clean database, and this helps us do it. You can create an album for a single track by simply naming the album itself after the track.

Can fans download my music?

As an artist, you have the ability to choose which songs your fans can download and which they can stream. You can also sell your music at any price you choose.

Can I remove or change my content after I upload it?

Absolutely. Log in anytime and click “Manage” at the top of the page.  The Photo Gallery
block will allow you to upload and delete photos. The Music/Video block allows you to
upload and delete both music and video links.

Can I upload cover songs?

To upload cover songs, you must have the proper permissions from the publishers and/or writers. You can get these permissions through the Harry Fox Agency (www.harryfox.com).

What file formats can I upload my songs in?

Please upload all your songs in MP3 format.

What bitrate do you allow?

You can upload any bitrate you want to preserve the quality of your music. And the best part is, your fans download your music at the same bitrate and quality you upload.

Can I link to my own band’s site?

Yes. You can do it when creating your profile. Or log in later, go to your manage page and click the “Personal Information” block. There you can change all your band info and add your band’s site. We also have a section called “FOLLOWING” that appears on your profile. This is where you can list all your outside profiles, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, etc.

How do I get chosen as an Indie Feature?

All Indie Features are chosen by us and are simply our favorite new discoveries or additions to the IndiePit community. The only catch is you have to be a Pro Member.

How can I get a Sound Check position?

The Sound Check slots are purchasable slots for bands that want to reserve a place on the IndiePit homepage. They are currently going for $1 a day with a minimum purchase of a five-day run. You need to purchase them at least two weeks in advance. Please contact sales@indiepit.com.

How do I get in the Amplified section?

Artists end up in the Amplified section by gaining momentum in the community. The best thing to do is get people to your IndiePit page. But you have to be a Pro Member to get featured here too.

How do I set up my profile?

Go to the upper right corner of the IndiePit homepage and click account login & sign up. Click Sign up now. Click I’m a fan. This will take you right to the sign up page.

Can I download music from the artists I like?

From some, yes.  Artists choose which songs they will allow for download and which ones for streaming only.  Songs available for download are marked with clickable icon.

How do I add songs to my player?

When you find a track you like on a band’s profile, click the icon next to it in their discography. This will add it to your playlist. You can manage your playlist by clicking “manage.” On your profile management page, click the Playlist block. Here you can arrange or delete songs from your playlist.

How do I become a fan of a band?

Log in and go to the profile of the band. Under Actions you will find the link I’m a fan!

How do I add friends?

Log in and go to the profile of the person you would like to “friend.” Under Actions you will find the link “Add as friend!
