How perfect: November 4 - a.k.a. the best day last year - could shape up to be our favorite day of 2009 as well. As we just learned, that’s the day the Pixies will be playing Doolittle in its entirety in Hollywood, at the Palladium. We already told youthe indie-rock immortals would be touring for the 20th anniversary release, but now the U.S. dates are locked in. Bonus: They won’t just be performing the album itself but all the accompanying B-sides too (we’re already frothing for “Dancing the Manta Ray”). As you may have noticed, we don’t like taxing your eyeballs with too many tour itineraries on this blog - but fuck it, this is the Pixies:

11.4: Los Angeles @ the Palladium
11.8-9: Oakland @ Fox Theater
11.12-13: Seattle @ Paramount Theatre
11.14: Eugene, OR @ Hult Center
11.16: Denver @ the Fillmore
11.20-21: Chicago @ Aragon Ballroom
11.23-25: New York @ Hammerstein Ballroom
11.27: Boston @ Wang Center
11.30: Washington, D.C. @ Constitution Hall

In light of this stellar news, we don’t want to bellyache, but really, what’s up with two Oakland dates - and three in New York - but only one in L.A.? Never mind, we’ll be thankful for what we got.

If Hella’s Zach Hill is involved, we are sooo there. And just when we ran out of enough fingers to count all the gonzo drummer’s projects, we come to find out he’s got another one up his sleeve: Chll Pll. We have yet to hear anything from the band’s Aggressively Humble, looming with an October 20 release date on Porter, but it finds Hexlove’s Zachary Nelson sharing leadership duties and Danava’s Zachariah Dellorto Blackwell popping in for a guest spot. We’ll have to sit on our hands for now, until we can get them on some of these traxxx. …

There are two types of music fans in this world: those who like Rush and those who like Lush. Hopefully you will be either unsurprised or relieved to know that we are of the latter variety. And so are Philadelphia’s A Sunny Day in Glasgow, judging by the sound of this new MP3 their camp shared with us:

We’re already hungry for the rest of the album, and if you are too, look for Ashes Grammar on September 15 via Mis Ojos Discos. …

Did you check out that Nurses video on the IndiePit Blog’s homepage? Then perhaps that’s why you’re here, to pick up the ”Technicolor” download we mentioned over there:

Well, there it is. Look for all its sibling songs on the band’s Apple’s Acre, due August 4 on Dead Oceans. …

Hey, you remember that Guy Picciotto-co-starring Vic Chestnutt album we told you about last week? Ta-da - here’s a slice from it:

The album is in fact not called Music to Kill Yourself To but rather At the Cut. It’s due September 22 on Constellation. …

Zaza are one of the breathiest bands we’ve heard in quite some time. Every exhale lasts forever, waxing each of their songs with a ubiquitous vocal presence - even if words aren’t being spoken most of the time. So it’s only right that they’re from Brooklyn, and that Cameo EP - the psych-folk spelunking expedition they have planned for August 18 - is coming out on Grizzly Bear’s maiden label, Kanine. But why should we bother blabbing on about when we have - hoo-ah! - yet another download for you to put in your pocket (er, playlist):

Sooner or Later

We take a fair amount of potshots today in our new releases roundup, but ex-Sleater-Kinney member Carrie Brownstein deserves kudos for the best swipe of the day. Her victim? Weezer. …
