If you’ve finally finished digesting the turducken-size box set that was 2007’s Sojourner, prepare to whet your appetite for more from Magnolia Electric Co. Secretly Canadian has just opened the preorder floodgates for the July 21 release of Josephine, and if you go that route, you’ll be rewarded with a digital download of of the band’s recently released “It’s Made Me Cry” vinyl, which was a precursor of sorts to Josephine. We’ve heard “Little Sad Eyes,” an organ-infused lullaby, and can’t wait to get our mitts on the rest.

Expect the album cover to look a li’l somethin’ like this:

We’re still reeling from US Christmas‘ Eat the Low Dogs, one of last year’s more exhausting slabs of hard psych. Like Pink Floyd with balls, or Neurosis with a lot more melody, their voluminous sound took us there and back - and there and back again. Now comes news that the Marion, North Carolina, assemblage has a live LP in store for August. The yet-unnamed release - made available through the new vinyl-only label I’m Better Than Everyone Records - will feature an acoustic set played on February 27, an additional concert recording of an unreleased song, and a live-and-plugged version of “Say Sister.” We don’t have any MP3s to share quite yet, but US Christmas have set up one of those weird “MySpace page” thingies, and you can find four of their all-consuming compositions there (make it a point to play “The Scalphunters”). Rather hilariously, one of the “upcoming” shows listed on the band’s page is a gig with Saviours happening October  25 … October 25, 2010, that is. …

It really is all about the vinyl these days, innit? Superchunk and Destroyer are tossing out new wax-exclusive tracks in the coming weeks via (where else) Merge. Tuesday is D-Day for Mac & Co.’s “Crossed Wires” clear-vinyl 7-inch, which will be limited to 1,000 copies and have “Blinders (Fast Vers)” on the flip. Then August 18 will ring in Bay of Pigs, Destroyer’s two-song 12-inch. That one is underscored by the band’s left-turn into ambient-disco territory on the 13-plus-minute titular screed. …

Meanwhile, far away from Chapel Hill, Chicago’s Victory Records has just beefed up its vinyl offerings with 10 new limited-edition color items that are bundled with digital-download versions of the releases. Bad Brains‘ Omega Sessions, Between the Buried and Me’s Alaska and Darkest Hour’s Hidden Hands of the Sadist Nation are among the lucky winners. …

Finally, out in the Northwest, Kill Rock Stars is hopping on the vinyl-con-gratis-digital-download bandwagon with a repress of 1993’s Joan Jett-produced “New Radio”/”Rebel Girl” 7-inch by Bikini Kill. It has a button too, so get on this gravy train (!!!!) before the release stops becoming available July 21. Extra credit if you knew without looking at Wiki that “New Radio” made it onto an episode of “Roseanne.” …

Spin those black circles, homies.
