Band: Mamiffer
Location of incident: A garage in Seattle
Destination: The Hawthorne Theater in Portland, Oregon
The Incident:
“We had a minor emergency today, but now everything is OK,” a relieved Aaron Turner confessed to IndiePit on Thursday.
He was en route to Portland, to perform with experi-metal band Isis (his primary project) and Mamiffer, an ethereal piano-centric combo led by Faith Coloccia (ex-Everlovely Lightningheart). Turner was traveling with Mamiffer, in support of their album Hirror Enniffer, which came out in September through his Hydra Head label.
“Well, we have a garage in the apartment building where we live,” he said, starting to laugh. “And one of the other people in the band brought the car over, put it in the garage, and shut the garage with the car in it - which also had the garage-door opener in it. So [the car] was locked inside the garage with no way to get into it.”
Curse you, modern technology.
“We had to go through our neighbor’s garage, through the crawl space, to get back into ours,” he continued. “And we don’t know our neighbors, this was the first time we’d met them. That was a good introduction.”

Conclusion:
Barring any more problems with garage doors, Mamiffer (and Isis) will burn through three more dates, all in California, before heading home: Monday at the Blank Club in San Jose, Tuesday at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco and Wednesday at the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles.
Check back next week for much more from Turner.
